REAL BRIDES | DANA
Doctor's Orders: A Little Lace, a Lot of Romance
From the runway to the cathedral: Dr. Dana's two bespoke bridal gowns.
Some brides spend years searching for their wedding dress designer. Dana had already found hers before she was even engaged.
I first met Dana at Fashion Week Connecticut, where she modeled one of my gowns. A doctor with a love of fashion and an unmistakable sense of personal style, she spent the show admiring the gown's beauty and quality.
At the end of the evening, she approached me with a declaration.
"You're going to design my wedding dress."
There was just one little detail. She wasn't engaged yet.
We stayed connected through Instagram, and when the time came, she returned to begin the bespoke design experience she'd envisioned.
Dana wasn't looking for someone to tell her what a bride should wear. She knew what she loved. She wanted a designer who could take that vision and make it distinctly hers.
What followed was a bridal wardrobe of two extraordinary looks: a glamorous, thoughtfully modest cathedral gown and a richly embellished reception dress created for a celebration filled with dancing.

THE MAKING OF HER GOWNS
Dreams taking shape.
The process of making Dana’s ceremony gown included fabric development of a skin-tone illusion mesh and lace layering & placement. The gown’s toile was also refined to ensure the fit and final design reflected her modesty requirements.
Dana wanted to ensure her gown remained modest and that the sculptural one shoulder detail didn’t overwhelm her.
She wanted a manageable train for her reception as well.
